So we bought a forest…

After looking all over BC, we found 5.5 acres that we can’t even afford but we are biting the bullet and doing it anyway! Did I tell you guys I was laid off? Lol, probably many of you and yes, we might be slightly insane. The property is in a place called Columbia Valley, which is basically Cultus Lake. You just drive around all the campgrounds until you find us. Our long term plan includes B&B, Glamping, Farm, Spa, Nutrition, Retreat, Teaching and more! We are thrilled.

Where will we live?

The house, well, it is something to be desired. At first we though it would be a teardown because the stench was so bad. And, I couldn’t even tell you the year it was built! Probably late 1800s or early 1900s…either way a LONG LONG TIME AGO. Like it might blow over. But we think we can fix it. Oh gosh, I hope we can! Since we are already stretching our budget, the plan is to turn it into a little cabin and rent it out to fisherman or whomever while we stay in a trailer and work the land.

Love of the land

What the land does have are APPLE & PEAR trees! It was an orchard so the trees are very old and heirloom which I’ve been told is pretty rare these days. One of the trees is just full of holes from woodpeckers trying to get bugs out of the tree. I’ve counted at least 5 of 6 large trees – but we haven’t really been able to just explore yet.

I’m so excited to make apple pies, or maybe even cider. It also has large broadleaf Maple Trees – so we will hopefully be able to tap them for some Maple Syrup!

Our dreams are finally coming true so we are beyond thrilled.

Here is Brooke with the apples she stole!
