I’ve mentioned some of my prized Craigslist finds, ranging from trees to bathtubs. Now, I’ve found our first little tractor (really a lawn mower) on Craigslist for only $30! How could we resist? I was in school for horticulture at the time so I sent my dad to make the purchase. He paid the $30 so he says it is his lol. Jay bet me that my dad would have it stripped down and painted by the next day–and he won!
My dad was super stoked and dumped quite a bit into that little guy to make it run and make it look pretty (he painted it with John Deere green and yellow). So far it is my favourite “tractor.” It did not have a lawn mower deck but it did have a trailer hitch.
After I broke the seal on tractor purchases, I found another one on Craigslist with a deck. This one is not quite as good (no brakes!) but it does cut the grass! Rounding out my collection, I found a little trailer for the back. How perfect it is for pulling the kids and things around the property!
A few weeks later I found an AWESOME long trailer. I imagined kids sitting in the back loaded with pumpkins from our future pumpkin patch or Christmas trees smelling of pine with hot cocoa in their little hands. The catch: the long trailer had to be sold with it’s tractor. With a hem and a haw we said yes–this was a long trailer, after all, and according to some research it was hard to come by. So we bought it! Picking up this trailer is a whole other story though…to be continued in our next post.
