The September long weekend at Cultus Lake is always bittersweet as it means the summer season is coming to a close and soon the lights will go dim at the amusement park and the screams from people rushing down the water slides will silence. While we know we can always look forward to next year, this summer marked the last time we would be able to have ice cream at Coneheads. Sadly, after 25 years at Cultus Lake, Coneheads ice cream shop closed its doors for the last time this season.
When we bought our property, I felt something magical as I drove past Cultus Lake’s main strip of fun; the lights and sounds of the amusement park, the water slides, and the Coneheads ice cream shop all brought back memories of my childhood and camping with my family every May long weekend.
Hank Jones, the owner of the Coneheads ice cream shop, is a treasure. He always told me wonderful stories about the past and would even take the time to talk to our little ones. We loved to stop in for a big scoop or two of ice cream on the way back to the city and the kids always loved their cotton candy ice cream cones.
We all wish you well Hank and we hope you have an amazing retirement! The summers just won’t be the same without you at your little ice cream shop. We will miss you.
Here are some of our favourite memories having Coneheads ice cream:

October 17, 2019 at 5:09 pmOh, that’s so sad. We were just at Cultus earlier this year and wanted to stop by for some ice cream, but never had the chance. Now we’ll never have the chance. 🙁

November 1, 2019 at 10:52 pmThat is sad! Hopefully someone else will buy it and keep the tradition alive, if not there is an ice cream parlour right across the road.
